Today at our school we remembered the first responders who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We were honored and humbled to share this moment with local firefighters, police officers and honor guard. The Chief of Police spoke to our students incorporating values we instill in our students everyday – that of being caring, responsible, and respectful citizens. He explained that heroes are not only police officers and firefighters, but teachers and students, as well. At that moment as I looked out into the audience of nearly 800 students and staff members I realized he was right, we are all heroes. Every day we have the potential to be a hero, but it takes courage to do the right thing. Do you have what it takes to be a hero?
